The Mainframe Print Services Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining print routing and management configurations within the z/OS environment. This role supports enterprise print infrastructure and ensures reliable print services for business-critical applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain JES2/JES3 print routing and management configurations.
- Develop and maintain REXX scripts and automation routines to streamline print operations.
- Support and enhance IBM print subsystems such as Infoprint Server and PSF.
- Troubleshoot and resolve print-related issues across multiple LPAR environments.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure reliable print output for business-critical applications.
- Implement monitoring and alerting for print queues, spool usage, and device availability.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing for print services.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for print-related incidents and escalations.
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in z/OS systems programming with a focus on JES2/JES3 and print subsystems.
- 8+ years of experience with Infoprint Server, PSF, and IBM print technologies.
- 10+ years of experience writing and maintaining REXX automation scripts.
- Strong knowledge of SDSF, ISPF, and TSO for managing print queues and system resources.
- Experience with Netview/SA and OPSMVS for automation and event handling.
- Familiarity with RACF security related to print services and device access.
- Experience integrating print services with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow.
- Ability to analyze print performance data and recommend improvements.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 Copilot for documentation and communication.
- Commitment to continuous learning in AI applications for mainframe environments.
